No Worries Because God is Still in Control

Dan Cook, a San Antonio sportscaster said: “The opera ain’t over till the fat lady sings.'' And the ''fat lady'' was a takeoff on Yogi Berra’s line, ''The game isn`t over till it’s over.'' What, who or where it came from – I think it can be applied to the election. I think the “fat-lady” is belting one out because it is over at last! Isn’t it comforting to know that now our economy will be fixed, immigration issues will be resolved, the “right to choice” folks will have their way, health care for everyone and peace forevermore! So, no concerns or worries! NOT! But, based on what we know well, we don't have to be concerned or worried because God is in control. We don’t know what tomorrow holds, but we do know WHO holds tomorrow! It may sound like a cliché, but I assure you “God’s got this! And, it’s not over!” In a culture fixated on the present and ourselves it’s understandable that there are many who are ecstatic about the outcome of the election, while others are disappointed and worried about the future. We are right to be concerned about our nation, but we are wrong to worry about our future: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God” (Philippians 4:6). When we do, (verse 7) “the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus”. We must remember this: Our mighty God, is in control. I am so happy that my peace, well-being, and hope for tomorrow doesn’t depend on what the results of an election are -- and how it will affect my life. Here’s what I know and what I’m staking my life upon. I believe God’s ways are so much higher than ours and His sovereign plans and purposes will be carried out. If we are people who live by faith, we will just keep overcoming because we know the “Captain” of our ship is God -- no matter “the who” is in the White House, the schoolhouse, the greenhouse, House of Representatives, or a household. Instead of being in that “I’m-so-worried-about-what-our-future-holds”, how about us looking at a penny and stand by those words engraved on it that say: “In God We Trust”? This morning is another gorgeous day for us to say again: “This is the day the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it.” Another day of God’s perfect sovereignty. He will still be in charge. His throne will still be occupied. He will still manage the affairs of the world. Never has His providence depended on a king, president, or ruler. And it doesn’t, this day. “The LORD can control a king’s mind as he controls a river; He can direct it as He pleases.” (Proverbs 21:1) Dear Lord, You are perfect. You cannot fail! You are God! You will accomplish your plans. You are the king, supreme ruler, and absolute monarch. No limitations, hesitations, questions, second thoughts, or backward glances. You consult no clock. You keep no calendar. You report to no one. You are in charge……….and I TRUST YOU! Circle November 6th on your calendar and write upon it the words: Our good God is in control and it's not over till He says – “It’s over.”
