Recalibration Time

Last night a dear Tulsa friend and I had our own private Zoom call. We were celebrating the blessings of having been brought together in a Life Group that I led for nearly four years there. This call and our recollections showed us how far we’ve come in our faith in God’s faithfulness. We talked about answered prayers and we talked about what God is going to do for us today and in the future. What He does, depends on what we do about ourselves. It is “recalibration time”! The time for a self-analysis of what is right AND wrong in our lives and then tweak ourselves! My phone's navigation system is one of my best friends. I can't begin to tell you how many times that the sweet man’s voice (Yes, man’s voice – I got tired of that woman telling me what to do!) saved my day when I was trying to find an address. He'll often tell me to turn at the next exit or the next street, and I’ll miss the turn. That’s he’ll have to recalibrate and give me new directions. So here we are over halfway through January already and I am recalibrating my life. I am making course corrections and going in new directions. My friend and I talked about how our mindset over the Christmas holidays was “Go ahead and eat up, enjoy yourself, eat as much as you want because you will soon be on a new track of sensibility again." The new conversation is nutritious eating, working out, etc. Recalibrating. We talked about our finances and what we can do to be wiser in our spending. Recalibrating. Here are a few of my recalibrations: Drink more water, be consistent with exercise, eat less sugar and make healthier food choices, connect more with old and new friends, purposefully laugh out loud even when "it's just not that funny", play my piano more, be a greater Light for Christ in my actions and reactions, being a bold witness for Him AND above all else spend more time in sweet fellowship with Him. That last one is the BIG ONE! Keeping Him as our Moral Compass and our True North will keep His voice the ONE we hear when we need to recalibrate our journey. Here’s the way to know we’re on course throughout this year: -- Having an overwhelming, supernatural peace that goes beyond logic. -- Abiding in His Word and listening to people who are on course and who we love and trust the most, who will help us stay on course. -- Recognizing providential circumstances, open doors, aha moments, divine encounters, and a sense of knowing when we're on or off track. -- Realizing the “Lord is my Shepherd”. We are His sheep who are dependent on Him like a baby is dependent on his parents or caregiver. Having the faith and determination to say: “Where He leads, I will follow.” THAT TRACK and that calibration will keep us in sync with God's voice and OUR sure success!
