A Meet-Up By God’s Design

Hang in with me – just 9 more days of downsizing, purging, and letting go! This little blog saga is one I took mental notes on days ago, but this day am inspired to share it with you. I saw that GameStop’s shares are now up more than 1,000% since the beginning of the year. I’m not a stock trader but it sure makes me wish I had owned some of that stock. Let me share why that info intrigues me. At the beginning of my online selling spree, a man contacts me about the chiminea I am selling. He REALLY wants it. He is in Chicago and determines he is coming for the chiminea as soon as he lands at DFW. He is bound and determined to “make a deal”. I am amused because he keeps texting me when he leaves Chicago, at his layover stop, and when he finally arrives at DFW. He finally arrives at my home while a gal is here to pick up a vintage Texas license plate table I am selling. She and I are in deep conversation as this sharp looking guy comes in like a bull in a china closet. He is jacked up about something. Later we find out why. I have an array of items in my living area and he commences to pick up piece after piece and puts them on my counter. He is on a mission when he breaks in on the conversation the gal and I are having and says: “I’m a stock market trader and I pay close attention to what the market is doing. I made $3,000 today on GameStop stock. I got in for 5 minutes and got out. Not a bad 5-minutes of work, was it?” Now I know he IS a bull in a china closet. He is ‘bullish” in his trading. He needs to vent about his “win” and it seems he needs our attention and affirmation. The gal and I congratulate him and continue with our conversation. She recognizes my “Christian-ese” vernacular and starts telling me about a friend who has just been released from rehab. She helped her find a place to live and needs just about everything to furnish it. Before I can respond with offering my help, our “bullish” guy overhears our conversation. He halts his shopping spree to announce: “I have pots and pans, dishes, a toaster, a clothes dryer (I just gave the washer away to a friend), and so many other things she can have. She won’t need anything else with what I can give her. You’ll need a pick-up to get it all!” The gal tears up and I am amazed at this “appointment by God’s design”. They exchange phone numbers and I expect a meet-up happens for this woman in need. Who knew that my little sale would be a divine set-up by God? God did! I can tell these people aren’t that tight with God because of some of their remarks. Before they’re shopping sprees come to an end, the guy eyes my suitcase-on-a-stand side table. He wants it but he sees the value of that little table – it holds my Bible, and the contents of the drawer are devotion books and other faith items and booklets. I remark: “You see my Bible and my devotionals?” He nods in agreement. I go on: “I hope you realize that what is happening here tonight is about divine appointments. All day you have planned to be here at this time and this place, but it was really God offering you the opportunity to bless someone else with your blessings." I say to both of these precious people: “I feel like we need to all join hands and ask Jesus into our hearts.” They think I’m being amusing but when the guy leaves just after the woman with his many purchases (he must make two trips to his car), I say to him: “I hope you realize all these things you bought have Jesus all over them!” With a smile he says, “I do!”
