In Psalm 103, the writer lists brilliant reasons why His heart is full of worship for God: “He heals our diseases, redeems our lives from the pit, crowns us with love and compassion…etc.”
And that doesn’t even scratch the surface of God’s handiwork. How could we stop short of acknowledging His magnificence and giving Him praise?
Back to that "Eyes" article. Photographers have captured the beauty and uniqueness of our irises, revealing a masterpiece of individuality. Yet, unlike fingerprints, irises are far more aesthetically engaging, a testament to God’s artistry. Each eye tells a story of depth and individuality.
Think about that! For years we have known that our fingerprints are unique – one-of-a-kind! Now we know that our irises are also unique, with no two being alike. Irises are now being used for identification and security purposes.
Oh my goodness! Matt Redman was right when he wrote the inspiring song, “10,000 Reasons”. Now there is 10,001 reasons to marvel at our Creator.
Think about it: even our own two irises are unique from each other. We often distinguish eyes by their color—brown, blue, hazel, grey, or green. The color we see is determined by the type and amount of melanin.
A lot of eumelanin gives us dark brown eyes, while just a hint of pheomelanin adds a yellow tint, resulting in green eyes.
Isn’t it fascinating how such a small variation creates such a wide array of beauty? Once again, God was on purpose with His creation. He used German photographer Felix Mayrl in 2012 to pioneer the process of capturing the intricate details of irises.
Building on this foundation, Michael Zeer, with his background in photography and psychology, opened his business in 2019. His company, Iris Photo, believes that "every pair of eyes tells a story, a narrative of depth and individuality waiting to be captured."
Think about it! Our eyes are windows to our soul, each pair telling a unique story, reflecting the complexity and wonder of God’s creation. From the intricate patterns to the vibrant colors, our eyes are a constant reminder of His attention to detail and love for beauty.
May we remember that we are wonderfully made. Each detail, from our irises to our fingerprints, speaks of our Creator who delights in diversity and beauty. I suspect He even has a reason for my “ski-slope” nose! Thanks, God!
The next time we look into someone’s eyes (or their nose), may we take a moment to appreciate the story they tell and the Creator who designed them with such care. You and me included!
