There were beautifully designed succulent arrangements on each table, along with little vases that would hold the arrangements we would make. I knew another blog was on its way.
In our busy, bustling lives, we often don’t stop long enough to bask in the small wonders of God's creation that whisper profound truths. We heard the Succulent Native store founder, Shannon Donaldson, talk about the wonders of succulent plants.
Succulents are a testament to resilience and simplicity. They need so little to thrive – just a bit of sunshine, an occasional sip of water, and they flourish and show off their vibrant, hardy beauty.
It is amazing how these little plants teach us so much about God and how He gives us just what we need. Succulents remind us that we don't need an abundance of resources to grow and prosper. Sometimes, all we have is a bit of light from His Word and a sprinkle of His grace. Yet, in His perfect provision, that’s enough for us to flourish.
Anita shared Psalm 1:3 with us: “They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.” Maybe we’re not trees, but God plants us where we need to be, ensures we have the light of His love, and waters us with His blessings, even if they come in small, seemingly insignificant doses.
Life can often feel overwhelming, with pressures pulling us in every direction. But just as succulents are built to thrive in arid conditions, we too are designed by our Creator to withstand life's droughts. We can grow and even bloom in tough circumstances because we draw from the deep wells of His strength and love.
The simplicity of succulents is a reminder for us to focus on what truly matters. In our faith journey, it’s not about how much we do or achieve, but about staying rooted in God's truth and basking in His presence. When we do that, we can grow stronger and more vibrant in our faith.
So, the next time you see a succulent, let it remind you of God’s provision and care. We can flourish in the “little” because He is in the little AND in the abundance. Let’s embrace simplicity, trust in His provision, and watch as we bloom in ways we never thought possible.
