It’s no wonder this day has become known as Temple Tuesday. According to the Gospels, Jesus spent the majority of it inside those sacred courts, delivering powerful parables and cutting through the smoke and mirrors of religion.
The religious elite — chief priests, Pharisees, Sadducees — tried again and again to trap Him with questions. But they underestimated who they were talking to. Matthew 22:46 says, “No one could say a word in reply, and from that day on no one dared to ask Him any more questions.”
Game over.
Jesus wasn’t there to play nice — He was there to reveal the heart of the Father. He told stories that turned ears red and hearts inside out: the vineyard tenants who rejected the owner’s son, the wedding banquet where many were invited but few came, the rebuke of those who denied the resurrection. Each word was aimed at peeling back the layers of pride, religion, and resistance.
After leaving the Temple, He went to the Mount of Olives and spoke of the future — the destruction of Jerusalem and the end of the age. He warned of the dangers of hardened hearts. He didn’t sugarcoat the truth. He never does.
And maybe that’s where we find ourselves today — in the tension of a tough Tuesday. Life isn’t easy. Pain visits. Loss stings. Finances run dry. But here's the truth -- we don't lose hope.
This is not the end of the story.
The same Jesus who stood boldly in the Temple is the same Savior who stood victorious outside the empty tomb. The Lion of Judah has already crushed the serpent’s head. And the final scene? It's the greatest beginning.
No more tears. No more death. Life ternal and beautiful and forever.
So take heart. Tuesday’s tension leads to Sunday’s triumph.
Hold tight -- the best is yet to come!
