A couple of days ago, I was blessed with two encounters that reminded me just how powerful a moment of kindness can be. The first was with my sweet niece who stopped by to catch up. As we chatted about her new job, family, and her excitement about finally getting her Texas license plate (she’s a Canadian with a green card!), I could see the joy in her eyes.
After an hour of sharing stories and laughter, I asked if I could pray for her. It wasn’t a long, drawn-out prayer -- just a simple expression of love and a heartfelt request for God’s blessing on her life.
A little later, I had a visit from a nurse from “House Call” -- a medical consultation at home. This young woman was full of energy and genuinely interested in my well-being. As she prepared to leave, I asked if I could pray for her. Once again, it wasn’t about long, poetic phrases. It was just a moment to thank God for her kindness and ask for His guidance and peace in her life.
You see, it doesn’t take much to introduce someone to THE ONE who truly cares. It doesn’t require a sermon or hours of preparation. It’s simply saying, “Can I pray for you?” and letting God do the rest. Sometimes, just knowing that someone cares enough to pray can make all the difference.
In a world filled with busyness and distractions, let’s take a moment to pause, notice those around us, and offer a prayer -- even if it’s short and sweet. You never know how much it might mean.
Sometimes, it’s the simplest acts of kindness that open the door to God’s grace and mercy.
Let’s be those people -- those who take the time to care.
