Lord, I’m Available to You

From years ago, I remember singing these words by Carlis Moody:
“Lord, I'm available to you
My will I give to you
I'll do what you say do
Use me Lord to show someone the way
And enable me to say,
I am available to you – Use me Lord.”

I never want to say “no” to God. If He calls my name, I don’t want to be caught lounging in my recliner with my feet propped up, remote in one hand, and a bowl of popcorn in the other. No, I want to be up, alert, and ready to shout: “Here and accounted for!”

It’s a little like baseball. I don’t want to be sitting on the bench when I’m supposed to be at the plate. Life may throw me a fastball, a curveball, or one of those slow floaters that looks easy but still surprises me. My job is to step up, grip the bat of faith, and be willing to swing when God says, “Now.”

Isaiah answered that kind of call when God asked, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Isaiah replied, “Here am I! Send me!” (Isaiah 6:8). That’s the availability I long to live with — not perfect skills, but a willing heart.

Let’s be honest, sometimes God’s nudge comes at inconvenient times. Right when I finally get cozy in my chair or when the phone rings, and I’d rather pretend I didn’t hear it.

But Romans 12:1 reminds us to “offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God -- this is your true and proper worship.” Availability often looks like setting aside comfort for calling.

The good news? God isn’t looking for home-run hitters. He’s looking for people who show up, who say “yes” when asked, who trust Him with the pitch. Philippians 4:13 promises, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” That includes the fastballs of challenge, the curveballs of change, and even the slowballs of waiting.

So, when God calls, may He always hear from us: “Lord, I’m available to You.” Bat in hand, eyes on Him, ready for the next pitch. “Here am I, send me!”
