On Monday, the world witnessed what many thought might never come: 20 living Israeli hostages were released after 738 days in captivity under Hamas.
As families descended overnight to the Re’im military base at the Gaza border to meet their loved ones, Israel erupted in jubilation — tears, cheers, prayers, and thanksgiving filling the air.
In exchange, Israel agreed to free 250 Palestinian prisoners and 1,700 detainees from Gaza.
At the Knesset, President Isaac Herzog turned to President Trump and declared, “Blessed are the peacemakers” — a powerful echo of the scripture, Matthew 5:9, coming from an Israeli leader to a U.S. leader.
We also give thanks for determined diplomacy and unwavering resolve. Thank God for President Trump’s role in facilitating this release -- along with many others who have prayed and labored for this extremely miraculous moment in time.
Let’s pause and praise God. He is the Liberator. He hears the cries of the captive and turns chains into testimony.
Chris Tomlin's song has resonated within me since I heard and saw this good news: "My chains are gone -- I've been set free -- My God, my Savior has ransomed me. That song isn’t just words — it’s prophetic today.
But, truly it was the hand of our Father that made the breakthrough possible.
Of course we know that this is not the end — but a beginning. We continue to pray for peace, justice, and protection for all those innocents who are caught in conflict. May we stand as intercessors, asking God to guard hearts and minds, restore what has been lost, and lead nations toward reconciliation.
May our voices, too, rise in thanksgiving — for life, for freedom, for God’s faithful deliverance.
