Sunday night I traded my election badge for a runway pass! Our fearless leader, Anita Anita Grossmann McGinnis, planned another one of her creative “Sweet Tea” events — this time, a holiday fashion show.
Twelve of us “models” (and I use that term loosely!) headed over to Posh Mercantile, a new dress and accessories boutique, to find our perfect runway look.
Now, full confession: I wasn’t exactly thrilled with the outfit they picked for me at first. But let’s just say, after a little prayer and persuasion, I recanted — and ended up feeling like royalty. The top was velvet with embroidery and puffy sleeves, the skirt shimmered with pleats that caught the light just right. Suddenly, “Momma Donna” felt like the Queen Mother!
But here’s the real beauty of the evening: it wasn’t the shimmer, sequins, or sparkle that stole the show. It was the women themselves. Every age, every stage — all radiant, strong, and beautiful.
My dear friend Julia, who has battled health challenges, shone in silver from head to toe. I told her: "This is your coming-out-of-the-wilderness celebration!"
I thought of this scripture: “He has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of His righteousness.” — Isaiah 61:10
That’s what we were all really modeling — not clothes, but confidence in Christ. Because as Proverbs 31:25 says: “She is clothed with strength and dignity and laughs without fear of the future.”
That’s the outfit I want to wear every day — strength, dignity, and a good dose of laughter!
Yes, “Dress for Success” is a nice slogan, but the best wardrobe is found in our Prayer Closet. That’s where the Strength Giver hangs custom-made grace for every day.
So, friend, slip into your spiritual sparkle. You are clothed in His glory, crowned in His love, and radiant in His joy.
And that “strength, dignity, and laughter” ensemble? Oh, it looks fabulous on you! It’s not just fashion — it’s God’s strength within you that makes you shine from the inside out!
