A Heartfelt Plea

As I look at the world around us, I see so many things that leave me perplexed and profoundly saddened. I believe in love -- love for our neighbors, for our community, for the sanctity of life -- but sometimes, I struggle to understand how that love has been twisted into something unrecognizable.

How did we get here? To a place where the sacred is mocked instead of a sacred vessel of life? To a place where abortions are handed out as though these are acts of compassion, rather than decisions that carry the weight of life and death?

I say this out of deep sorrow for the lives that could have been. Sorrow for a society that has lost its way. Sorrow for the pain that these decisions inevitably cause to the hearts and souls of those who make them.

But amid my sorrow, I am reminded of the love that Jesus showed to all, even those who did not understand His message. He loved the woman at the well, the tax collector, and even those who crucified Him. He showed us that love doesn’t mean condoning every action, but it does mean reaching out with compassion, offering a better way, and standing firm in the truth.

As followers of Christ, we are called to be the light in this dark world, to speak the truth in love, and to offer hope where there seems to be none. My prayer is that we can continue to stand firm in our values, not out of judgment, but out of a deep, abiding love for our fellow human beings.

Let us be the voice that says, “There is a better way.” Let us be the hands that reach out to those in need, offering true compassion that sees the value in every life. And let us be the hearts that grieve for what has been lost, while always clinging to the hope that our God can redeem even the darkest of times.

I keep hearing the words, “What Would Jesus Do?” He would love the unlovely, the broken, the misguided, the misunderstood……and He would pray for them. I am praying and believing that the God who sees all, knows all, and has compassion for all -- leads us by His example.

"Make me more like You, Jesus. Make me more like You. Give me a heart that’s filled with love and make me more like You!"
