The Blessing of Two

There’s something divine about the number two. Just ask Noah, who mastered the art of the double as he herded every creature two by two onto that ark. And then, there’s Solomon who wisely penned, "Two are better than one” (Ecclesiastes 4:9).

God must have known how much my life needed a double portion of love when He blessed me with not just one, but two incredible girls, born 30 years apart on the same day, September 16th: Shawntel, my son’s precious wife, and my daughter, Staci's and bonus son, Larry's daughter, Alexia.

Now, picture this: the hospital room, September 16th, a moment so precious it felt like heaven and earth kissed. There was Shawntel, my beautiful bonus daughter -- hand-picked by my son and, I believe, hand-delivered by God -- holding my little Alexia for the first time.

Alexia, my only granddaughter among a troop of five boys, cradled gently in Shawntel’s arms. I have the picture to prove it. My two girls sharing their birth-day together!

Shawntel fills my life with so much love, joy, devotion, and care -- it’s like she was custom-made to fit into our family. And Alexia, my sweet granddaughter, surrounded by a sea of boys, brings a softness and sparkle to our family that only a granddaughter can.

But here’s the real kicker: these two remarkable women were born on the same day, decades apart. Coincidence? I think not. It's God’s gentle reminder that blessings come in twos. Whether it's two daughters, two hands to hold, or two hearts bound by love -- here’s strength, joy, and unending grace in those sacred pairs.

So, in honor of my girls and the God who knew exactly what I needed, I’m leaning into the beauty of twos. Just like Noah started, and Solomon affirmed, the power of two is one of life’s greatest treasures.

God bless you all, my beloved and dear friends! Thanks for sharing this special day with me! BTW – there are two separate birthday tributes to my girls on Facebook.
