Sure, we live in times that could make anyone bite their nails down to the cuticles. But I still believe God wants us to laugh, even now. And the key to that comes a little later in Proverbs, where it says this woman “fears the Lord.” Turns out, it’s that trust in God that sets her free to laugh without worrying about what’s ahead.
And then there's Kamala Harris -- whether you’re a fan or not, we can all agree the woman knows how to laugh! People get ruffled by her giggles, but here’s the thing: maybe she’s onto something.
While I can't speak for her, maybe her laughter is her own way of "laughing about the future." In a world that’s constantly throwing curveballs, why not deflect a few with a good chuckle?
Let’s face it, we could all use a little more laughter. Not the nervous kind that hides fear, but the deep, joyful kind that says, “I’m trusting in Someone bigger than the future.”
That’s what it means to fear the Lord -- not being afraid of Him but standing in awe of His majesty and love. And when we do that, we realize God holds our future, and suddenly, the urge to laugh comes naturally.
So, let’s be laughers instead of dreaders. Let’s stand in awe of God, trust in His steadfast love, and remember that He’s got us -- and everything else -- covered. It’s no wonder we can LOL about it all!
After all, “The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who hope in His steadfast love.” (Psalm 147:11)
