God's Colorful Handiwork

We made it home from several spectacular days in Branson, MO. Yes, the shows were breathtaking — talent, artistry, musicians who stirred the soul — the whole package.

But you know what stole the spotlight? God’s handiwork. Those trees. Those colors. Those hills dressed in yellows, oranges, maroons, and golds so vibrant I couldn’t stop snapping photo after photo. It felt like God was whispering, “See? I did this for you.”

Fall has a way of reminding us that God could have made this world in a black-and-white existence and called it a day. But not our God. He said, “I can do better than that,” and He splashed color everywhere — in nature, in the eyes of His children, in the clothes we wear, in the talents of artists, painters, singers, and craftsmen.

Everywhere we look we can see His creativity saying, “Enjoy this. It’s My gift.”

And then there’s the rainbow — His covenant with Noah. A visible reminder of His faithfulness. A promise painted in color. Every time those colors bow across the sky, heaven is saying, “I remember My promise. I remember you.”

But Fall… oh, Fall preaches a sermon all its own. Those changing leaves? They’re more than pretty scenery. From a faith perspective, they point to a God who delights in renewal. A God who invites us to let go, to release what no longer serves us, and to trust the beauty of the process.

As the chlorophyll fades, what was hidden shows up in full display — the oranges and yellows that were always there beneath the green. Isn’t that like us? When God peels back our layers -- when we surrender our pride, fear, and stubbornness -- our true identity in Christ finally shines through.

Psalm 96:12 says, “Let the trees of the forest sing for joy.” And I think they do -- every Fall, with every burst of color. Their song reminds us of Romans 1:20 -- that God’s eternal qualities are clearly seen in what He has made.

Fall reminds me that God could’ve made the world black and white… but He didn’t. He chose color. Beauty. Change. Renewal. And every leaf preaches a little sermon of His faithfulness.” 🍁
