Little is Much When God is in it!

My course was altered yesterday when the flu bug took me out and I had to direct the movers from my “Director’s Chair”. It was my long-awaited moving day. Thank goodness for dear Denise Gerrich who supports and helps the Wallace’s and me so unconditionally. She co-partners in so many valuable ways.

Remember the story where Jesus told the disciples to find food to feed the crowd of over 5,000 and all they could come up with was a little boy's lunch of two loaves and five fish. Co-partnering with the disciples and a little boy, Jesus was able to feed the masses by multiplying what they had on hand.

He is the Master multiplier. We are the chosen partners He uses. Imagine that little boy's story the rest of his life? Jesus used ME! He takes little and makes BIG out of it. "Little is much when God is in it!"

What if, today, we present Him with what we have? Someone who raises their hand and says “Pick me!” to make a meal for someone in need, or taking a friend for a doctor appointment, or at the very least what "little" do I have to help someone. My prayers. What about that one who has gone through tremendous physical challenges. What could I do for her? Stop to speak to her, to engage her in conversation, to applaud her courage and tenacity. Co-partnering with God to be a difference maker.

Not a big deal at all. But, if I"m one of God's partners, my little just might be the BIG God uses to multiply blessings to them. How about you? Maybe inviting someone to dinner today or giving items you no longer need away, or taking a meal to someone. It may seem little to you, but BIG to them. Yes, little becomes BIG when we accept our partnership with THE MULTIPLIER!

Our course was altered -- instead of to Nova Scotia, our voyage has detoured to Portugal because of the rough waters. Going further north, then east wasn't going to work. So we're going East-North Easterly heading toward Ponta Delgada -- the largest municipality of the Azores in Portugal. What a great adventure!

What if, today, we present Him with what we have? There was an individual on our ship that was having such physical issues that they had to turn the ship around to take him back to port. The medical team deemed it crucial to get him emergency assistance on land as soon as possible. So what "little" did I have to help him? My prayers And that's what I did. I met a lovely lady on this ship who very obviously had gone through tremendous physical challenges. What could I do for her? Stop to speak to her, to engage her in conversation, to applaud her courage and tenacity.

What Grows in Your Garden?

I saw a friend’s post a couple of days ago where she was asking for advice for getting rid of weeds in her garden. Comments to her post included: “Put newspaper around the plant – it will suffocate the weeds”; “Put grass clippings around the plant”; and I loved this one “Don’t plant a garden!” LOL!

That made me think about the weeds that may have grown in our heart’s garden – weeds of selfishness, pride, self-centeredness, laziness, bitterness, anger, envy, etc. Here's my advice: 1) First, cultivate the soil and add in a get mixture of fertilizer (prayer) ; 2) Plant the seeds of God’s Word (Bible reading and meditation); 3) Give the plants plenty of sunshine (speaking the light of God’s Word over the situations that may be troubling or concerning us); 4) Give the plants plenty of water (thanking, praising, trusting in God’s goodness and mercy to complete what He started, Proverbs 3:4,5 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths."

Then, get ready for an abundant harvest of sweet and beautiful fruit: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.......” Galatians 5:22,23

St. Paul said it perfectly in I Corinthians 3:6,7 – once we plant the seed…..God will make it grow! "I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow." God is the Master Gardener, and what He plants, always yields a great harvest!
