Why Am I Here Anyway?

We hear many sermons and talks about why God put us here at this time and in this space. Here’s what His Word says: “Yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things and WE EXIST FOR HIM…..”; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and WE EXIST THROUGH HIM.” (1 Corinthians 8:6). So there you go. The answer to “Why am I here anyway?” Maybe it’s better asked: “WHO am I here for anyway?” We exist for God.

Doesn’t that make you feel no longer “ordinary”. You and I are extraordinarily God’s very own creation – existing for Him. So, when another ordinary Monday rolls around and you’re loading up the kids, their backpacks and their lunches into the car or you are heading off for your morning commute to your office job, or you are facing another week of medical tests, doctor’s appointments and treatments, or you are studying for that exam that will make or break your grade average – you wonder “Is there more than all that working and studying and the going and the doing?”

This life may feel so big and we may struggle to find our place in it. We may wonder if we matter. We try to find a purpose for our being. The reality is we are not only made for a purpose; we are made for a Person. We are made for the Miracle-Worker, Chain-Breaker, Water-Walker, the Stars and Planets Creator, the Man-Sculptor who brought us forth from dust. We are made for the One who holds all the world in His hands.

And “We exist through Jesus” (1 Cor 8:6), the One who made it possible for us to make our way home to our Most Awesome God, Who laid down His life that we might find ours. We also live by the Spirit. What a TEAM! Father, Son, Holy Spirit. We are empowered, equipped, strengthened and comforted. We are never, ever alone.

What does this mean in the middle of our routine and ordinary days? It means that our car can be a holy place of joy to the Lord. It means our sink full of dishes can be an altar of praise to our Most High. It means our office can be a sanctuary as we acknowledge the One that we are here for. Imagine the joy it brings to Him, when we acknowledge Him.

Wherever you are today, whatever your routine might be, whether or not you feel noticed, this is the message of God: “You are loved. You are mine. You matter. I see you." This is the truth I’m taking with me each day. We were made for not only a purpose but for a Person – the One who has brought me into this world for Himself. There is no greater calling. There is no more glamorous career. There is no higher glory. We are His. He is ours. This is enough reason to exist for a lifetime…and eternity.

YOU MATTER!!!

While on a long run in yesterday's mist and rain, I noted that kids still ride bicycles to school...even in the rain. I was impressed with the exercise they were getting and also with the security they sensed in crossing the busy street because of the watchful eye of a school crossing guard. Those kids matter to their parents and to that crossing guard. Teachers await them at the school. Those kids matter to their teachers who put in countless hours in preparation -- not to mention the patience and steadfastness they must have daily. They matter.

When I arrived back at the home of my Frisco family, morning leadership training and devotion was about to commence. Morning leadership means strategic reading from a leadership book with discussion following. Their book, this day, was "Primal Leadership" and the chapter was entitled "The Motivation to Change". "Self-Delusion" was a sub-heading. Under that heading, ways to correct distortions in self perception were identified. Staci asked the kids "What does "distortion to self perception mean?" Earlier she had noticed that both kids were mellow and not as energetic as they could be, so she said, "Payton, I asked you earlier if you could be more energetic and you said 'I'm always energetic'. That's distortion to self perception. You're NOT ALWAYS energetic." Great conversation ensued. These children matter to their parents enough, that they take time to instill great principles for success into them daily.

Following devotion, Staci said, "I love you two so much, maybe I should have another baby. After all, Janet Jackson is pregnant again at age 50 (Staci will be 47 this Thursday.) She proceeded to say, "I never thought I'd want another child but I think I could do it again!" Payton interrupted her and said, "Yes, Alexia, after Mom had ME, she was ready for more, but after she had YOU, she was like, oh dear, never again!" Alexia jumped in to correct his "distortion of reality" and said...."Actually, Payton, when Mom had you, she took one look at you and said, 'I can do better!" But when she had me, she realized I was as good as it gets and decided to stop at perfection!" LOL -- oh me, you can see I'm going to have plenty of content while here with the Wallaces for future posts!

The fact is.....when we care about others, we do things that show they matter. We say it in words and action. You matter so much to me that I write this FB post and blog everyday in hopes that it will encourage and bless you. God matters to me so much that I obeyed Him six years ago when I saw so much negativity on Facebook, and I heard from Him "Make a difference by putting out positivity." We show our world matters when we pray for peace; our country, state and city matter so much that we observe laws of the land and strive to make it a better place to live In. The poor and needy matter when we support causes and charities that benefit them. And, I'm here to tell you.....YOU Matter!

In this moment, in this place, regardless of your last name, your status on the team, the letter at the top of an exam, the amount of your paycheck, whether you live in a palace or a cardboard box, YOU MATTER. This season is all about HOW MUCH WE MATTER. God sent His only Son to this earth to take on human flesh, to suffer, die and rise again so we could live FOREVER with Him. WE MATTER.

Trust in THAT GREAT LOVE for you, trust in Him, BELIEVE the story and then HEAR ME NOW......YOU MATTER!!

Prime THAT Pump

See that pump in the middle of our Solavei leaders and Tom Ziglar? That's the pump used by Zig Ziglar as he gave his memorable "pump illustration". I'll never forget watching him, time and time again, share the story about having to put something in, to get something out, and each time it stirred me to action. He said, "You must prime the pump and pump very hard before you start getting water. Then the pumping becomes easier." The reality is...in life, relationships and business.....you must put something in, before you get something out. Zig would go on to say, "Regardless of what you are doing, if you pump long enough, hard enough and enthusiastically enough, sooner or later the effort will bring forth the reward.”

I watched history being made last night. Not only was an awesome path for success, growth, and increased blessings revealed for our Solavei family, but the "It's Happening" webcast taking place at Zig Ziglar's headquarters in Texas caused this Mama to "have her moments"! As Zig's son, Tom Ziglar, who is carrying his father's legacy on, watched our live webcast, I thought about the legacy of success that Zig Ziglar had and the influence of his life on ours, and how the indelible print of success will carry on in Solavei. That's a perfect example of the ripple effect or the butterfly effect.that can take place when we realize that WE MATTER and we can make a difference!

I was so deeply moved as I thought about Zig and my Honey looking on, and cheering us on, from heaven's grandstands. Every room in that complex represents a man who made the difference in millions of people's lives, including our family's. His trainings, philosophies, principles for success in business and life -- and his friendship with our family, sincerely impacted the people we are today -- optimistic, relentless work ethics and audacious determination to succeed at whatever we put our hands and hearts to.

I'm so excited about the future for all of us in Solavei -- history was made two years ago, and today we will continue to make history that will MAKE THE DIFFERENCE IN MILLIONS OF PEOPLE'S LIVES.
