The Right Place at the Right Time

Even though my life is quite ho-hum living in a safe, secure, 55+ community, I still don’t seem to run out of content for my daily blogs. God continually surprises me. Case in point:

Early Sunday, 5:30 am, with flashlight in hand, I head out on my morning walk before the warm sun rises. I know it’s going to be a hot one today. I decide to take a different, longer route because I want to get in my three miles. Had I not chosen this way, I might have missed what was up ahead. I head to my favorite walking-trail around the pond. Up ahead, I see something alongside the walking path. I’m scanning with my flashlight because I’ve seen bobcats before and sure don’t want to encounter one this morning. The closer I get, I can see it is someone sitting just off the concrete walking path.

It is Jan (name changed to protect the innocent). I haven't seen her out and about much lately. She has just taken a big fall. Her face is bloodied and so are her clothes. I'm about to call 9-1-1, but she resists. She tells me she's fine and just wants to sit there a few minutes to recover. I’m not thinking I can stand her up, but I know what I can do. “Jan, can I pray for you?” “Yes,” she replies. "But, don't get close -- the Coronavirus!” I assure her I’m healthy and don’t have the C-virus. I pray, and then ask how she’s doing. Her arms are hurting. I plead with her to let me call 9-1-1. But, no, she won’t have it. I ask if she has someone I can call, but her only daughter is in Houston.

Thirty minutes later, another morning walker -- literally my friend's droopy-eyed, plump, very mature beagle, Walker, and his owner, Bill. Bill is with me in urging Jan to let us call 9-1-1. But no. She is adamant. I ask if she has a wheel chair at home. She does and proceeds to instruct me how to get into her garage and to get her purse on the chair in her dining room. I make my way the blocks to her home. Upon my return, more neighbors have shown up. One is Ginny, who knows Jan well and despite Jan's objections, she calls 9-1-1. In five minutes, good looking, strong young men show up. I say: "Thanks, Jan!" 😁 Jan shouts at them: “Stay away from me. The coronavirus!” They assure her that they're "clean"! Jan is in so much fear of this "alien" that has invaded our world. Thus the reason why she walks early so she doesn’t encounter people who just might have the virus.

To shorten this saga, I’ll cut to the chase. After nearly two hours, the paramedics convince her to let them take her home in their EMS vehicle. Jan refused to be taken to the hospital for the same fear of the virus. Meanwhile, I continue to pray for Jan, for her heart and soul. I think about how many people who are paralyzed in fear because their attention is on all the negative in this world. Instead of dwelling on the positive and the good, they stay fixated on what's negative.

Fortunately, I had asked Jan for her phone number in case I couldn’t find her home, her purse or wheelchair. I called her at home on my way to church. She thanked me for praying for her and seeing after her. Her daughter was on the way to her. Thanks be to God! Jan called me yesterday to thank me again. I offered to get groceries for her and she needs straws. Praise the Lord! I have a new friend that wants, and needs, a friend.

Sometimes being a Good Samaritan isn’t accepted. Sometimes people don’t want help. As Mother Teresa said, “Love them anyway. Be kind to them anyway.” I like to think that I was on time in my walk this day – taking the longer way. I might have missed her if I had gone the short way. We are here for divine purposes. We have the opportunity every day to walk out our front doors to our mission field. Jan was my mission field this day. We just never know when God has set us up to be at the right place at the right time for Him.
"So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us." 2 Corinthians 5:20

Acknowledging Him = Straight Paths

“Before you arise from your bed in the morning, I have already arranged the events of your day. Each day provides many opportunities for you to learn My ways and grow closer to Me." -- God

Ever look back on your day, and because of so many distractions or needless worry, you realize that you missed the lessons God was trying to teach you? Even the most inconsequential events could be God speaking. I know He is working on me to be “present” with Him throughout my day, to know those little nudges and kisses from heaven, to experience Him in the beauty around me, and to recognize the undeniable times when He sends angelic protection my way. I sincerely want to live, even though I'm in the middle of traffic, or in a long line at the store, or writing checks for this month's bills -- in the KNOWING He's as close to me as a whispered prayer, and in that knowing, I acknowledge Him, and then I recognize His wisdom and direction in what I'm doing -- in ALL MY WAYS.
".....in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:6.

It's a New Dawn, a New Day, a New Life & I'm Feeling Good!

Okay, I admit it.....I AM a morning person. When I wake up, I don’t feel the need to pull the blanket over my head and long for just a few more minutes in bed. In fact, I don't even need an alarm clock -- mine is built-in -- usually, right on time between 6:00 am and 6:30 am. I like to get up, get my thermal mug of coffee, post my morning FB message, and enjoy a few precious quiet moments at the beginning of the day before the phone starts ringing and my daily responsibilities begin.

And, also, (most of the time) I start my day in a state of joy and happiness. I love the feel of a new day, with all the potential of new opportunities and moments to enjoy. I love Michael Buble's rendition of this song: “It’s a new dawn; It’s a new day; It’s a new life, for me, and I’m feeling good!”

Here's the Bible's take on that: "Because of the LORD’s great love, we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning;
great is Your faithfulness." Lamentations 3:22-23 These verses say it's possible to start each new day with a fresh beginning -- clean slate. God promises that His great love for us and unfailing compassion (or mercies, as some translations put it) are new every morning. So, whether we are a morning songbird, or a night owl, the point is that everyday is a brand new day with God. So, say: "Good-bye YESTERDAY, with all your mistakes and worries and fears, and good morning, TODAY, with the opportunity for NEW LIFE!"

Then Came the Morning -- He is Risen

HE IS RISEN!! ALLELUIA!! Happy Resurrection Morning!!!
2,000+ years ago -- there was tremendous fear in the Jesus' followers because of such diabolical evil that had been rendered against the Son of God. They lost their dearest friend. How could they go on? But, THEN CAME THE MORNING!!! The stone was rolled away AND Christ rose from the grave. Night turned into day. Death had lost, and LIFE had won.

And, it's a new dawn and a new morning for us, too! The stones of fear, rejection, disappointment, worry, doubt and heartache are being rolled away. We can choose for the darkness to be gone, and to allow THE LIGHT to break forth as Jesus, our HOPE, stands in the doorway! He triumphed over ALL the powers of darkness and, by faith, His victory is ours, too! May His resurrection power flow through us and may it bring us healing, renewal, strength, and life. Since Jesus' resurrection was for our resurrection from death to life, too, why don't we start LIVING, today? Yes, it's a new dawn, it's a new day, and I'm feeling good!

PLEASE, PLEASE watch & listen to this gorgeous, amazing 5-minute video. Your heart and soul will be so lifted!! May HIS resurrection life be yours today!

How BIG is Easter?

Tomorrow is Easter! And, of course, the reason Easter is the most important day on the Christian calendar is because of the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, from the dead. It is the most important event in the history of this world and the entire universe. True HOPE was established by the resurrection and it wasn't just some hocus-pocus magic trick or exercise in wishful thinking. If it were, then the whole thing would have fizzled out, but here we are 2,000+ years later celebrating that incredible day of all days. The resurrection of Christ is so big that it's the answer to everything that was, and is and is to come. I can vouch for it -- it is MY EVERYTHING. I'm already getting giddy about tomorrow morning -- for it's not just about another sunrise, but it's about the rising of the LIGHT of all LIGHTS, and that LIGHT brings with Him, mercies and hope and love EVERY morning -- not just Easter morning! So how BIG is Easter? Oh, it's only the answer to EVERYTHING!

CEO of my Business -- CEO of my Life

My tip of the day.....there's no greater way to begin a new day and week than to have a meeting with the CEO of our business -- especially with the desire for success in every way! My CEO is God, my Heavenly Father.

Through the years of having early morning commitments, my body just naturally wakes up early. I have a built-in alarm clock. So, it sure makes sense to me, to get in touch with the One who created the day -- to begin my day by spending a few minutes alone with God each morning. It's just a great way to get the "wisdom and guidance" download from my CEO, and my day and life will be enriched and blessed as the day progresses! Spending time in His Word, and sharing with Him, through prayer, I know I've set my day in the proper order! It always helps me to be in the right frame of mind. I recognize it, and others recognize it, when we've had those meetings.....and when we haven't. I urge you to call for an Executive Meeting with your CEO today!
