With all the “He said. She said” craziness in the news, it makes you wonder “Who CAN we trust these days?” How many times do we get sold a bill of goods and the goods are faulty, broken, or dysfunctional, yet we keep going back to the same merchant or using the same service provider? Before long, we could easily start to think "I just can't trust anyone!"
Think about all the people we DO trust, without even giving it a second thought. We trust pharmacists to give us the right medication from a prescription. We trust pilots, we don't know, to safely take us to the right destination, believing that they know how to fly that big bird! Driving our cars, we trust our lives to engineers and road construction crews, believing the bridges will hold. That’s a lot of trust in the unknown, on so many levels.
Here’s what’s most surprising. We, often, have trouble trusting God. People will say, "I can't see Him, so it’s hard for me to believe." Do we see the engineers who designed the bridge? Do we know the pilots? Do we really know what the pharmacist is putting into our medicine bottles? Not usually. Yet God, our Creator and the One Who knows all about us (our past, our present and our future) and Who loves us so unconditionally, is often the One we trust the least. It just doesn't make sense to trust imperfect men and not to trust a perfect God.
Trust is relinquishing our agenda to God's agenda. Trust is also believing that if we don’t get what we need or want, that God still is working out all the details of our lives for our good.
Case in point: My dear friend who was running for election to a public office, sincerely believed, with all her heart, that she was going to win this race. She trusted God for the outcome. The election took place and she fell short on the votes needed. Her reaction? “God is still on the throne and all things work together for good to those who love God." That’s bold, fearless, unconquerable TRUST. Trusting God when the outcome “isn’t as planned” in our eyes, but is “right on target” with God’s plans and purposes for us. God knows that if that door didn’t shut, we would never walk through the perfectly designed door that He has perfectly planned for us. His ways are so much higher than our ways!
Trust….when skies are blue and birds are singing. Trust….when the storms are prevailing and ominous clouds loom. Instead of hearing "You have such little faith." (Matthew 8:26) ....don't we want to hear "I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith." (Matthew 8:10)

Stir Up Your First Love
As the 50th Wedding Anniversary date (July 8th) of my Sweetheart and I nears, I seem to be "in a remembrance zone". Dear friends of mine, who are celebrating their 50th year, are doing so by rekindling the love they had 50 years ago by purposefully going on all kinds of romantic and fun adventures. They've cruised, traveled near and far, taken lots of date nights and every day they are celebrating those 50 years in special ways, all year long. I love that. That gives me pause for a moment. I think that's what we would be doing, too. I won't get to do that, but I sure can spend sweet time remembering the special times we had in our 44 years.
When we had little to afford us to travel, we made lots of memories camping out and fishing in lots of lakes. We had LOTS of date nights to a movie, a restaurant, a musical (we loved those – “The Music Man” was our favorite and our favorite song came from it “Til There Was You”). Then we travelled in a Winnibego across the U.S. when we were The Master's 4 Quartette. We had four conversion vans over the years and chalked up a lot of miles travelling across the U.S. and Canada (my Sweetheart's home). Both of us being Private Pilots, we travelled many miles in our Cessna 182 airplane. We travelled on commercial airplanes, making many trips to see our kids when they lived in North Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington. We travelled to many events and conferences, near and far away. We travelled many times to my Sweetheart's beloved Belize and Mexico where we regularly went to share God's love on missions trips. We travelled on a Gulfstream when our son took us on the ride of our life to New York City when his company became public. We were there when he rang the opening bell on Nasdaq. We enjoyed 15 cruises together, the last of which was our dream trip, 5 days in Rome and 12 days on a Meditteranean Cruise.
One of my fondest memories is the trip Ron won at an LPGA Golf Tournament. He putted a 50 foot hole in one stroke. A hole-in-one that awarded us with a trip, the next day, on a 747 with the LPGA women to Sweden for the Solheim Cup. Eight days and nights -- all expenses paid. We made the most of the moments when travelled by train to Denmark and the ferry and train to Berlin, Germany.
Not only did I enjoy "remembering" all those experiences for myself, but I wanted to share them with you to say: "DON'T let the wonders and wows of your todays past you by." Like us, you may not make it to your 50th year to celebrate the years. Make memories today. Make every day count for loving and sharing and rekindling that love that brought you together with your sweetheart in the first place. Get off the couch and go for a walk. Get up early to see the sun rise together. Holding hands, watch the sun set together. Light some candles. Stir up that FIRST LOVE that you shared. STOP and behold the beauty God gave you, before it's too late.
Then, spiritually, let's not move so speedily through life, that we fail to set aside the time needed to stop and behold the beauty of the Lord and to gaze upon the wonders that are found in Him alone. Let’s stir up that FIRST LOVE we encountered with Him.
Psalm 27:4 "One thing I have asked from the LORD, that I shall seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, and BEHOLD THE BEAUTY of the LORD and to meditate in His temple."

Dare to be Bold
Yesterday, my post was about the willingness to get out of our comfort zone. In other words...dare to be BOLD!
When my sweetheart passed away, I had to become a take-charge, confident, fearless and BOLD gal. I played the "widow" card for a while and it worked in negotiations for my new home, getting some special treatment for services and getting lots of TLC from friends and family. Before long, that card expired and I had to step up to the plate and be a strong, resilient and capable business woman, entrepreneur and coach to those who faced similar circumstances.
I know boldness can often come across as pushy and even arrogant. And when we "go bold" on our own, it isn't a pretty sight. You know those folks: demanding, overpowering, controlling, domineering. Ugh! I do my best to steer clear of them and I sure don't one to be one of them, either. Those take-over approaches don't honor God and, in fact, they even repel when, we want to draw folks in. We want to lift people up -- not bring them down.
Boldness, in the hands of God, can be such a gift. I love Queen Esther's boldness. She was willing to approach the throne of King Xerxes. She said, "I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish," (Esther 4:16). What a role model for women in every century! But her plan was not her own. Before she put her life on the line to save her people, she wisely asked them to fast and pray, that she might be given favor by the king. And great favor she received.
Boldness can be risky business when we do it on our own. But when God leads the way, we can follow Him without fear, knowing the outcome is always in His capable hands.
I'm thanking God for giving me victory over intimidation and helping me in my quest for boldness. With His nudging and reminding me of His abilities in me, I sold my home and built a new home, I started a business that changed my life and many others, I started a Life Group (Bible Study) in my home, I've joined women's groups where I can raise my hand to volunteer, I've become a leader in other groups, I put down my inhibitions and shyness (yes, I once was shy) and now I publicly speak to many various audiences about God's goodness.
When we let HIS boldness pour through us, we’ll discover, "He crowns the humble with victory," (Psalm 149:4). My crown is not the likes of Queen Esther, but it's one I wear proudly, because it's one that God placed on my head and it's called The Crown of Boldness. I've learned not to hold back from sharing God's love to those who are hurting. Here's God's Word for you and I today: Joshua 1:9 "This is my command--be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or ... do not tremble or be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go." So, let's be bold, be strong, for the Lord our God is with us....and, like Queen Esther...."for such a time as this!"

Adventures Await Outside the Port
When you were a kid, did you play the “I Dare You” game? I did. I remember when friends would “dare me” to jump into the deep end of the pool or jump off the high diving board. They were trying to force me to do something that I was afraid to do, but I yielded to their "dare" and realized I had nothing to fear. In one sense, the word "daring" can seem reckless, but on the other hand, it also means being "bold". If we are inclined to stay within our "comfort zones".....or, as a ship, to safely stay in port, then we'll never enjoy the thrills of conquests and victories....just because we weren't willing to be "daring" and "bold".
I have a case-in-point. I enjoy being a Resident Representative for my community, Hyde Park at Tulsa Hills. I meet potential homeowners and tell them what it’s like to live here. I’m qualified because I was one of the first residents to build a home here when there wasn’t anything but dirt and earth-moving equipment, back in November 2012. There were three of us who built our homes at the same time. It was a gutsy undertaking when we ventured out believing that what the developer was telling us would be reality. He said there would be streets and sidewalks, a beautiful clubhouse that would have all kinds of amenities: tennis, swimming pool, billiards’ room, dining area, library, work-out facility, dance studio, 6-hole putting green, and pickle ball courts. He said this community would be about lifestyle: right-sized homes, maintenance-free yards, gated entry, close to all kinds of shopping, restaurants, and services. AND, here’s the amazing, step-out-in-faith bottom line, WE BELIEVED HIM though we saw nothing but drawings of lots, their locations, as well as the location of the clubhouse. The perfect scripture for that kind of belief is "Now faith is the assurance that what we hope for will come about and the certainty that what we cannot see exists." Hebrews 11:1
When I heard about this unique, first-of-its-kind 55+ community in Oklahoma, it was exactly what I was hoping for. So, I took the plunge to sell my home, but even before I sold it, I knew this place was for me, but it would take a leap of faith. In essence, I got out of the safe harbor and launched my ship to the open seas.
Now we have fifty homes in this community, a gorgeous clubhouse with all those amenities in it,, as well as wonderful neighbors who have become dear, life-long friends to me. I get amused when people come and are not willing to venture out of their comfort zones though they love what they see here. They see the finished homes, the clubhouse, hear the testimonies of residents, yet they aren’t willing to venture out, even though now there are so many “knowns”, unlike when I ventured out and there were so many “unknowns”.
I'm quite sure that God loves it when we rev up our engines and venture out into the oceans of discoveries and live life with no regrets. This move was definitely brave and bold, but as it turns out, it's given me adventures of a lifetime living here, travelling with neighbors, socializing and living an active, full and fun life with these neighbors. My faith really paid off.
I’d say, if you’re stuck in some rut and really desire change, then be willing to change, be willing to venture out into the seas and oceans of discoveries and adventures. God built us for bold living. Let’s be bold, brave AND beautiful and set sail for the awesome oceans and seas of life.

You Light Up My Life
I've thought about the impact some special people make in my life (you know who you are), and just by being around you, I feel energized. Your spirit of encouragement is contagious. I can't be down in your presence because you are such a light -- your glow rubs off on everyone you touch. You're so different than others. If it's raining, you say "Isn't this weather fantastic? The rain is so refreshing and clean!" If you're not feeling well, and I mention it....you quickly say, "I'll be fine tomorrow!" You are such a cheerful bundle of joy. You always see the glass full and overflowing. And my life is overflowing.....just because you are in my life!
There are those of you on social media who are that bright light to me, too. You don't bring your "baggage"to us. You refuse to be a "day-darkener". Your main objective is to be a light to this world of darkness. You are a cheerleader when you post. You encourage and bring hope and gladness to me and many others.
I like to think that the LIGHT that lives in us is dispelling the darkness in our sphere of influence -- at work, at home, at play, at school, at the restaurant, at the store, at church, at a football game, and on social media. In that case, "YOU light up my life" takes on a whole new meaning to a world that is begging for LIGHT.
"Jesus spoke to them, saying, 'I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.'” John 8:12. And, here's the real kicker.....Jesus said to us "YOU are the light of the world....." Matthew 5:14. WOW!! How's that for a standard to live up to? It sure puts onus on us to check out our wattage and our light output, doesn't it?
If you're reading this and think "She's sure not talking about me!" Then, I urge you to become THAT kind of friend who is a "bright light" to those around you because they need YOUR light to shine brightly! Then, when we sing "You light up my life", your sweet bright face and light will pop up brightly in our minds, because we're thinking about YOUR light!

What Is It That Makes a House a Home?
My Hyde Park at Tulsa Hills community is one of the stops if you're checking out the Parade of Homes in Tulsa this week. Four beautiful new houses are being featured -- houses with touch faucets, heated bathroom floors, geo-thermal energy features, high-end appliances, and so much more that makes a right-sized house so welcoming.
My post today, however, isn't about homes in the sense of mortar, brick, wood and stone. It's about human lives -- the people -- the families that live in those homes. I started thinking "What if there were a Parade of Homes that we could look at -- one that exemplified "family values" and a place where God's love and character showed Him to be the CENTER feature of their homes? You walked into THAT home and the atmosphere was warm, welcoming and you just wanted to hang out there.
We often say "God is our #1 priority!", and while that sounds really top-notch in terms of ranking order, I remember what my husband and I considered to be our main core value and non-negotiable. It was that God had to be right in the CENTER of our home and family. When a decision was made, it was based on what God's opinion would be. When a little "tiff" (my kids called it "Mom and Dad are having another 'discussion') would arise between my husband and I, we couldn't let the "tiff" last for long, because our CENTER always (sometimes later than sooner) drew us back to harmony and peace.
Our CENTER meant we prayed together, laughed together, listened to each other, helped each other, encouraged each other, forgave each other and gave each other lots of hugs. Did we always get it right? No, but because our CENTER was our non-negotiable, we did course corrections and soon came back to our CENTER. Most certainly, if we made God our CENTER, then, who knows, just maybe others would be drawn to make Him their CENTER, too.
“....but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” Joshua 24:15.

No Excuses -- Just Do It!
In Exodus we read all the excuses Moses had when God asked him to step up and deliver His people from the grip of the Egyptians. Listen to the excuses he had: I’m not good enough, I don’t have all the answers, People won’t believe me,I’m a terrible public speaker, and I’m not qualified. Thankfully, he got over his "excuses" attitude and became the man that showed remarkable courage, obedience, and strength of character. He fulfilled his mission faithfully. God works with each of us where we are and takes us to where He wants us to be. We just need to be willing to leave behind the excuses.
It's no secret that I'm a reality show junkie. I particularly enjoy the ones that display die-hard athletes who push themselves to the limits in crazy obstacle courses and apparatuses. A new show just came out called Spartan where families and friends come together as teams to compete for a big prize, but to win that big prize they must conquer obstacle courses unlike any I've ever seen. It's an adrenaline rush to watch them. But, still, my favorite show is ANW (American Ninja Warrior) especially because of the background and the insurmountable difficulties of some of the athletes who compete.
Last week's ANW featured Allison Toepperwein, a 38-year old, single mom who has Parkinson's Disease. Of all things, she started training for ANW because she learned that the ony thing that slows down Parkinson's disease is exercise. When she does ninja training, she has more energy, no tremors, gets a natural high from the dopemin that is produced. She said, "ANW was the catalyst I needed to be the very best mother and person I can be. So what if I have to take meds three times a day. Who cares that I shake a little when I wake up, get nervous or when my meds wear off? The greatest lesson I could have learned from ANW has been realizing PD is NOT a liability to me!" Whew! Watching her face those apparatuses was beyond incredible. She didn't make it through to the end, but I give this gal so much credit for being a "No excuses" kind of gal.
Then there was Artis Thompson, who had lost his leg in a motorcycle accident, and now wears a prosthetic and took on the ANW course with fierceness. The commentator said, "Those of you viewing at home, what's YOUR excuse?"
Those words went deep into my spirit as even at this "mature" age, I don't want to have excuses for not giving everything I've got to this life I've been given. I want my story to end with "She was unstoppable!" No, I'm not planning on trying out for some ninja obstacles or apparatuses, but I do plan to continue to be God's Ninja Warrior -- taking on life's obstacles, challenges and pressures with a vengeance. I refuse to give up until I'm taken up. There a hyphen in between the date of birth and the date of death on gravestones. What does that hyphen represent in our lives? I sure want mine to be "lived life to the fullest, didn't accept quitting, ran her race with gusto, pressed on to the finish line". What does your hyphen represent? With God, limits are all off! I don't think "excuse" is in His vocabulary. Why should it be in ours?

Just a Little Band of Women
In so many places in this world, women are so marginalized and ostracized – simply because they are women. If only our world used the example of Jesus and how He loved and respected us. He really "upset the apple cart" in His culture in the way He related to women. In Luke 8 we see there was a band of women followers who traveled with Jesus and His 12 motley crew of men disciples as He ministered all around Galilee. Those women came from all walks of life, they were single, married, and some had questionable backgrounds, but here’s the common thread – each of them experienced healing through their encounter with Christ. He loved them, taught them and could have cared less about what the pious religious folk thought.
I know God loves us all – after all, He gave all of us His only Son who paid the ultimate price for our wrongs. But, personally, I am keenly aware of His love for us girls. A couple of Sundays ago, the Gospel reading in Luke 7 was read – it tells the story of the woman (Mary Magdalene) and her alabaster flask of ointment that she bathed Jesus feet with. Jesus’ reply to her when Simon Peter “ostracized” her was “Your sins which are many, are forgiven. Your faith has saved you; go in peace.” To Simon, Jesus gave a scolding about his lack-luster attitude. And here’s the best part of the story…..Mary Magdalene went on to be the first to see our risen Lord, and then become the first evangelist. I'd say "that's some kind of love"! How fitting that on July 22nd, Pope Francis will elevate and honor "Saint" Mary Magdalene to having a Feast Day named after her.....just like the other disciples. Sincerely, we, women, can stand up and stand tall, knowing we are so deeply and profoundly loved by God. We really do matter to Him.
The little bands of women that Jesus touched and loved is a mighty indicator of His love for us. The women at the foot of the cross and at the tomb held a tiny flame of faith that He would rise as He promised. That flame of faith may have burned high, and it may have burned low, but the flame never went out, and their faith was rewarded.
That’s how I feel about the little band of women who meet at my home every Tuesday night (for almost 3 years now) to celebrate that love that He has for us. Like the women of the Bible, our flame of faith may burn high and it may burn low, but our flame never goes out and because we have faith in His Word that “nothing is impossible with Him”, He rewards us. We have had many answers to prayer – healings, marriages restored, families restored, spiritual growth, emotional healings, being able to forgive, seeing children come to know Christ, and, even, the birth of babies…..like this little angel girl, Ragan. For months, we prayed for Ragan’s mommy and daddy and Ragan is the evidence of “Nothing is impossible with God.” Just a little band of women – who encourage each other, pray for each other, cry with each other and laugh with each other – but all of us – holding hands together as we walk out this journey of faith. Ragan's two grandmothers (pictured here) have stood strong for precious Ragan.
What BAND do you belong to? If you don’t have a group that lifts you higher, that is willing to run to the finish line with you, that encourages you to go the distance, that makes you better and gives you a good kick-in-the-place-you-sit-on every now and again, I urge you to find a BAND too. Being a little band of women or men….can certainly keep you going….especially when the going gets tough. By the way, my little band of women....can sure ROCK OUT....after all our faith is built on THE ROCK!

Shhh. It's Okay. Mommy's Here.
"As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you... "Isaiah 66:13
Isn't it so heart-warming to witness a young child being comforted by his mother? More than any pain that needed to be taken away, he needed his Mama's TLC.
There's a great lesson to be learned from the way of a mother with a young child who needs comforting. Many times the child isn't just whimpering either. Often they're wailing! The mother’s response is not casual or indifferent, but one that is instant and intense. Love moves her to action, not with explanations or reasoning, but with everything in her power to quiet, to comfort, and to reassure. And, the arms of the mother’s embrace speak louder than any words the child could hear in that moment of fear or discomfort.
The mother’s voice is also soothing and quieting, “Shh, it’s okay…Mommy’s here. It’s okay.” These words are all the child needs to hear and know. Her gentle words bring the assurance that helps the child to believe, “I can stop crying. I can begin to quiet myself because Mommy is here and I am in her arms.”
The words spoken by God in Isaiah 66:13 "Be still, and know that I am God…" are words like those of a caring mother for her child. The language is simple, the words are few, the impact is instant, the result is profound. WE are God's children and His words tell us all we need to know to settle us, still our fears, quiet our hearts, and reassure us when we hear, “Be still, calm down, release all your concerns, quiet your heart, it’s okay, I am here and you are safe in the shelter of My arms."

Being a Show Off
Yesterday, was officially the first day of Summer, Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year, and, to throw a big whoop-la celebration, our Creator made it to be extra special as it conincided with a full moon in a rare event that hasn't be seen in nearly 70 years. It also featured a full "strawberry" moon -- the name comes from the belief that strawberry-picking season is at its peak during this time of the year. What preciseness it took for God to Master-plan that one! What a "show-off" He is! Genius....to put it mildly!
Here we are on Day 2 of Summer. Summer is a season of long sunshine and heat-filled days — memories made at the pool and lake, vacation travels, camp-outs, grilling and lots of ice cold drinks and good times spent with friends.
One of my all-time favorite times is when it's an Olympics year. I'm thrilled that this is the year for the Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from August 5 to 21, 2016. I'm already counting the days -- it's one of my favorite times -- seeing those determined and skilled athletes "show off" what they can achieve from the dedication and hard work that got them there.
Hmmm -- showing off. God, and His artistry, and the Olympics with those talented athletes. Is there a way we can show off, too? We get to "show off" how much we can be like our Creator. He loves us so much that He purposefully gave us a "sun and moon" show, but that's not the real "show-stopper". He gave us His one and only Son to be our Savior. And what does He ask of us? To love Him back and love our neighbors, our friends, our world as much as we love ourselves.
I started thinking about that -- being intentional with loving and caring about others. Intentionality doesn’t have to mean a ton of time. Maybe, intentional with a text message to someone to tell them they are loved or a few words about a prayer we've said for them.
Sometimes we just need to pick up the phone. I know. I know. There's just not enough hours in the day to get into a drawn-out telephone conversation, but there are times when a friend's face or name pops up in our minds, and that may be God's way of showing us they need a friendly and warm call.
Sometimes we are so busy with our plans that we have blinders on to others who may be yearning for community. And the thing is, many times it would be so easy to just engage someone in a conversation that opens the door for them and us to find a new, close friend.
We’re all busy. But if busyness is preventing us from "showing off" our love and compassion for others, then we're just too busy.
Maybe this lazy, hazy days of Summer could actually turn out to be the most show-stopping, exhilarating, thrilling and BLESSED summer EVER, when we become more Creator-like, creating friendships and relationships that matter....in the light of eternity.

Flannel Board Jesus or 3-D Jesus.....He's Still the Same!
Today, it’s a 3-D, 4-D, sound, lighting, visual and special effects world. Back in “my day”, the big deal in my Sunday School classes were the “no” tech flannel-board characters. Walking into Sunday School and seeing the flannel board all set up, meant it was going to be a great morning. Jesus was always smiling and we could take Him down, and slap Him back up on the flannel board again and again. We’ve come a long way since then. And as “low or no” tech as those days were, it was as awesome to us to live in that era as the high tech devices and high tech way of doing things are to kids today. Studying about Noah and the flood, Moses and the Red Sea, David slaying the giant, and those rag tag fishermen who became disciples were a huge part of my history. I'm so grateful because all those stories are indelibly printed in my head.
The way we do things today, are very different from how they were done 50 years ago and that’s okay, it’s as it should be. This generation needs relevance. With kids spending hours upon hours each day watching TV or using social media, we must find ways to hold their attention in the very short time we spend with them.
Jesust started this all. He taught the people using parables, creative stories rich with imagery, to help people understand and remember His message. He knew what they needed to hear, and used creative means to convey the message. Have you read those stories? The woman who lost a coin, the mustard seed, the birds in the sky, the rich man, the pearl and so many more.
While people have been teaching about Jesus using creativity for thousands of years in all sorts of different ways, it's thrilling to know that the method may change, but the message is still the same.
It doesn’t matter if we’re using little felt people or a high tech, 3-D rap video about Jesus, as long as kids AND adults are getting the point that God loves them; that He sent His one and only Son to die for them – we’re doing our job. In years to come, we will all be talking about how we heard about Jesus. So, hang onto your seat belt, the next wave just may be a holographic Jesus teaching about His unconditional love.
Flannel boards or hi tech world…..Jesus remains the same – yesterday, today and forever. I learned about Him as a kid. I taught my kids about Him and my kids are teaching their kids about Him. That’s a constant, never-changing message to continue sharing and one that I’m willing to stake my life upon! How about you?

Happy Father's Day
Happy Father’s Day to all the Fathers out there! Father’s Day brings me precious memories and so much gratitude for my own sweet Daddy and my precious husband who were incredible, devoted and loving fathers. They get to celebrate this Father’s Day together in heaven. And I'm so thankful for two of the most amazing Dads ever -- my two precious sons: Ryan Wuerch & Larry Wallace -- amazing fathers, who lead their families by God’s example of love to them.
I asked my two youngest grandsons “What makes someone a good dad?” Of course, they thought about their own dad, when they said, “They are kind, they play outside with you, they give you love, they work hard for your family, they’re strong like my daddy, they love you, and my dad flips his eyelids inside out, and he makes us laugh.” Oh, my! The sweet joy they bring me.
One of my all-time favorite songs for dads AND moms is by Phillips, Craig, and Dean, “I Want to Be Just Like You” – a prayer from a dad who wants to do his best to be like Father God, because his little boy wants to be like him. These words touch my heart so much.
Following these lyrics is the link for this beautiful song. I pray you are so impressed by God's love, that you, too, want to be just like Him.
I WANT TO BE JUST LIKE YOU
He climbs in my lap for a goodnight hug; He calls me Dad and I call him Bub, With his faded old pillow, a bear named Pooh, He snuggles up close and says, "I want to be like you."
I tuck him in bed and I kiss him goodnight; trippin' over the toys as I turn out the light; I whisper a prayer that someday he'll see. He's got a father in God 'cause he's seen Jesus in me.
Lord, I want to be just like You; 'Cause he wants to be just like me,
I want to be a holy example, for his innocent eyes to see.
Help me be a living Bible, Lord, that my little boy can read.
I want to be just like You; 'Cause he wants to be like me.
Got to admit I've got so far to go; make so many mistakes and I'm sure that You know. Sometimes it seems no matter how hard I try, with all the pressures in life I just can't get it all right,
But I'm trying so hard to learn from the best; being patient and kind, filled with Your tenderness; 'Cause I know that he'll learn from the things that he sees, and the Jesus he finds will be the Jesus in me.
Right now from where he stands, I may seem mighty tall, But it's only 'cause I'm learning from the best Father of them all. Lord, I want to be just like You; 'Cause he wants to be just like me, Want to be a holy example; for his innocent eyes to see. Help me be a living Bible, Lord, that my little boy can read. I want to be just like You; 'Cause he wants to be like me.

What Would You Request of Your Genie?
When driving my two youngest grandsons to school, the older one, Brennan, asked his younger brother, Bryson, "If you had a genie in a bottle, what would you wish for?" They certainly earned love tokens when they both replied "For Nana to live with us forever!" Of course they had some other outlandish wishes, but that one put a big smile on this Nana's face.
Now, how about you? What would YOU ask for if YOU had a genie in a bottle and he'd grant just one wish to you? What does YOUR heart long for the most? No doubt, our answers would vary. More time. A healed body. A restored relationship. A financial breakthrough. A child. A spouse. Passing the BIG test that enables a BIG promotion.
King David's wish (or ask) went like this: “One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek Him in His temple.” Psalm 27:4
When I read that scripture, I am drawn to the “one thing” David asked of God — to dwell in His house forever. How can we live in God's house while we're still here on this side of heaven? More than anything, David longed to be in God’s presence. No wonder he was called “a man after God’s own heart.” Though David experienced many highs and lows in his life, I think the one major theme in his life was a singular longing to be in God’s presence.
Psalm 16:11 speaks more to dwelling in God's presence and the greatest perk from doing so is joy! It goes like this: " In Your presence is fullness of joy." And that's my "wish" and my prayer today, that our hearts will be filled with this one thing . . . a desire to dwell in His presence. I’m pretty sure God delights in lavishing His love upon us. In fact, Jesus tells us God takes it to a level beyond anything any parent has ever done for their children. After all, He has already been more generous toward us than we will ever deserve. To live daily practicing His presence, creates plenty of opportunities for God to show up and show out. No, He's not a Genie or Fairy Godmother, but He is the God in WHOM all things are possible. What better place to be than in His presence?

"Fear Not! I Bring You Good News of Great Joy!"
Those are the words the angels spoke to the shepherds when they were announcing the birth of our Savior. This was also the scripture that I referenced in my message to a room filled with beautiful women at Christ the King Church last night. When I was asked to speak for this event several months ago, I was asked to speak on JOY. This scripture immediately resonated within me. I found it so timely with the recent tragedies in our country, the loss of lives not only here but abroad, the pain and suffering that seems so abundant, and the grief and sadness that so many are facing.
Yesterday, I planned on spending the day in meditation and preparing for last night's message. Just as I was about to sit down in my comfy chair, I looked out my back window and saw two fire trucks going through the neighborhood. Though I'm inquisitive, I thought "Just maybe one of my neighbors is in trouble", so I hastened out my door and a neighbor waved me down to tell me that one of our neighbors, only 63 years old, had been found, deceased, that morning by his parents. My heart went out to them, but initially thought "I didn't know him well so I'll go home back to my studies." As I drove into my garage, I heard God's "still small voice" say "You can help his parents. Take them the 'good news of great joy that lives in you.'" I went there and this precious mother and father were having to take the unspeakable role of seeing after their boy and having to make hard decisions that no parent would ever want to have to make for their child. Immediately, I knew why I, and a couple of other of my girl friends from the neighborhood were "on call" this day. It was more than obvious that this precious mother and father were Christians because, even though they were hurting, their faith gave them so much strength. We talked a lot about the peace of God while waiting hours for the police, the doctor's opinion, the medical examiner and the vehicle that eventually took the son away. I wasn't aware that when someone dies alone in a home that it's seen as a crime scene until certain procedures were carried out. Once again, that scripture verse was timely as I shared God's Word and the angel's word "Fear Not; I bring you good news of great joy" to this couple.
I cried with this precious mama as I remembered those words many times when I needed them the most. My own sweetheart had been very ill for several months, but we weathered the storm because those words: “Fear not. I bring you good news of great joy!” Initially, when we received the diagnosis of Stage 4 Kidney cancer we wrestled with that COMMAND – not a suggestion -- “Do Not Fear”. Why does God COMMAND us not to be afraid when every day there are situations that occur and it seems impossible NOT to fear? We found the answer to that question by focusing on the GOOD NEWS OF GREAT JOY that the angel spoke about. As I think back on those months, without doubt -- we did experience GREAT JOY in the midst of doctor's appointments, treatments, six surgeries, pain, and discomfort. We laughed. We celebrated life. We embraced each other and we embraced our friends and family like never before. It is possible to have peace and joy, like the shepherds had, right in the middle of the darkest night.
I leave this word to YOU today. Who knows what tomorrow may hold for you or a loved one? But, be of good cheer, the GOOD NEWS of GREAT JOY will show up for you. After all, He brings with Him "Tidings of comfort AND joy" when we need it most.

Eliminate "I Am Just A....." From Our Vocabulary
I asked a young woman what she did for a living and she responded “Oh, I’m just a stay-at-home Mom.” I quickly corrected her. I said, “You are NOT “just a” anything. You are so blessed to be able to be in a position of the highest honor and status. You are the royal queen of your household, and your subjects are indeed so fortunate to live in your kingdom. The truth is I have yet to meet a mother who is “just a mother.” The mothers I know are teachers, confidantes, entrepreneurs, designers, chauffeurs, administrative geniuses, counselors, domestic engineers and so many other titles. The mothers I know are brilliant, strong, gifted, artistic, wisdom-filled, optimistic, forward-thinking, and can-do-anything women.
And here’s some additional truth….no matter what our title, our role, or what our job description says, there is no such thing as “just a yard man, or just a store cashier or just a volunteer or just a anything. As a matter of fact, I think “I am just a…..” is a phrase we need to eliminate from our vocabulary.
As part of God’s family, there is no such thing as “just a.” Let’s look at some of our ancestors:
~ David could have said he was “just a boy.” But he didn’t. He grabbed five smooth stones and slayed a giant.
~ Paul could have said he was “just a tentmaker.” But he didn’t. He carried the gospel into the world, spreading it like wildfire.
~ Mary could have said she was “just a teenage girl” from the wrong side of the tracks. But she didn’t. Nine months later, she gave birth to our Savior.
God could have said He was “just a creator”. But He didn’t. He could have carelessly thrown the stars into place and tossed the world into space, but He didn’t. Our God created, designed and purposefully placed you and I here on this earth, at this time for purposes beyond what our eyes can see or our minds can conceive.
God had such detailed plans for our existence that He gave us His best GIFT, His Son, and with His Son, He gave us everything we need to be people of the highest status. We are royalty and “our kind” raise our heads up, put our shoulders back and stand tall. We are blood-bought Children of Almighty God, and I suggest that’s way more than a “just a”!

No Right to Judge
Still in the wake of the Orlando tragedy, I find myself grasping for explanation of this world we are living in today and how we could all be so different.
Typically, I fight the urge to push away the negatives that are resounding over media because I don’t fully understand it all, and because I tend to withdraw from the place of doom, despair and agony. I sincerely protect my peace of mind because I want to live in a “happy place”. I admit it’s far too easy to close my eyes, shake my head and whisper "I’ll think about this later or I haven’t experienced that, so I won't think about it at all."
For the last few days, however, I’m apologizing for the times I’ve allowed myself to look at the plight of others and think “How could they? Why would they? I would NEVER make that choice!” Heavenly Father, please forgive me, because “but, for the grace of God – there go I”. Luke 6:37 says “Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven…”
I have no right to judge because I don’t know how it feels to be rejected, hated, or considered untrustworthy because of the color of my skin. I don't know how it feels to be hated for merely existing.
I have no right to judge because I don’t know the struggle of not identifying with my gender. I was born with the chromosomes of a woman and I can’t imagine wanting to be anything but a woman.
I have no right to judge because I don’t know the frustration and helplessness driven by an addiction. I’ve never been burdened with an all-consuming desire to consume a substance over and over again while knowing that doing so could kill me and destroy my family.
I DO KNOW, that without judging and criticizing and with the loving heart of Christ, it’s time for us to connect with our brothers and sisters in this human race, to remember our need for each other, rather than distance ourselves from each other, to remember and act upon loving our neighbors in the spirit that Jesus asks us to love. The commandment of Jesus to love in Mark 12:30-32 should stir us into action every time we’re tempted to turn away from trying to understand and comfort another.
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.”
Yes, it’s often difficult to wrap our minds around the chaos, the actions and reactions of our fellow man, but it’s not about the why, who, what, when and where……it’s about our boldly proceeding in our thoughts and actions with HIS love running through our veins, our hearts and our minds......because LOVE CONQUERS ALL!

Fighting the Good Fight of Faith
(This is one of my first ever blogs, June 12, 2010. I repost today because I thought, just maybe one of my FB friends could see how my Sweetheart and I "fought the good fight of faith" during his illness, 6 years ago. It blessed me then, it blesses me now -- NEVER stop fighting the good fight of faith!).June 12, 2010: Our faith journey continues to keep us on our toes – endeavoring to be good soldiers with our combat boots on, armored with God’s Word, and completely surrendered to our Commander’s orders. We know there is tremendous value in “fighting cancer” with a good positive attitude and being nutrition-conscious! And we’re definitely doing that. But, most importantly, we are doing what St. Paul told young Timothy to do in 1 Timothy 6:12, “Fight the good fight of FAITH!” We are convinced that God is using our “great adventure” to not only cause our faith to be strong and unwavering, but we have a lot of friends, family members, medical team and acquaintances taking this journey of faith with us who are also fighting this good fight of faith with and for us!
Ron successfully completed the 3-days of cyberknife treatments to kill the second tumor that was on his lumbar-2 vertabrae. We’re still working on the pain in his lower back to diminish, but he is a brave, courageous soldier. There are days when we think about how “routine” our lives once were…..waking up, getting dressed, having devotion, eating breakfast, going to work, etc. etc. And then, this “suddenly” happened that certainly caused a totally new life perspective. Rarely did we take the time to focus on how green the grass was, how blue the sky was, how bright the sun was, and how precious were the days when we were pain-free and strong. Now, each day is one to be cherished!
I’ll admit we’ve had our share of crises, but I don’t think we’ve ever come to realize the preciousness of life like we do now! For many years I received those little e-mails from friends that talked about appreciating life…..and now I get it! Holding my Honey’s hand, kissing his sweet lips, smelling his wonderful smell (btw -- “Fierce by Abercrombie” -- LOL!), hearing his laughter when he’s watching the grandchildren, hearing him tell me once again “I love you” – all those things that were once “routine” are now so precious and dear to me!
The next phase of our journey will take place on June 22nd when he is scheduled for the surgery to remove the kidney that has the primary tumor (the real culprit of this whole deal) in it. The urologist is expecting to do a laparoscopic nephrectomy (much less invasive than standard kidney removal), which means smaller incisions and less recovery time. Please pray with us for that to be exactly what happens, that Ron will recover quickly and do great with just one kidney (thank God for this back-up system), and that this will bring much relief and wholeness to his body! We look forward to planting our flag of VICTORY very soon! We appreciate your prayers and support so much!

In Times of Pain and Broken Hearts.....
Yesterday morning, the media broadcasted about the horrendous tragedy in Orlando. For those of us who feel safe in our cozy and comfy homes, it seems a far stretch to understand such an assault on human life. I was endeavoring to put words together for my post today, but then I saw this moving post by Dr. Jim Denison who writes for The Dallas Morning News and The Christian Post. It really doesn't matter who he is, I think he "nailed it" when it comes to what our reaction to this tragedy should be. His comments follow:
I am writing this Cultural Commentary on Sunday morning as reports continue to come in from Orlando. At this point, we know that the Pulse nightclub tragedy is the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history. We know that the shooter has been identified as Omar Mateen and that authorities are investigating his possible ties to Islamic terrorism. I feel compelled to write this essay from my heart.
As I have watched the news reports, I have sensed the grief of our Father for His children. While Pulse is one of the best-known gay nightclubs in Orlando, Baptist ethicist Russell Moore was exactly right when he tweeted, "Christian, your gay or lesbian neighbor is probably really scared right now. Whatever our genuine disagreements, let's love and pray."
Here's how you and I can "love and pray" for Orlando right now:
One: With hearts broken as God's heart is broken. Scripture is clear: "The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18; see Psalm 147:3). Our Father wants us to love all our neighbors as ourselves (Matthew 22:39). If people had to be perfect to deserve our intercession, for whom could we pray? Who could pray for us? We are all broken people who need each other and our Lord.
Two: With honesty as we share the pain of those who grieve. David prayed, "Be gracious to me, O LORD, for I am in distress; my eye is wasted from grief; my soul and my body also" (Psalm 31:9). We can be this honest with God. In fact, it is biblical to pray words of anger and frustration. If Jesus could cry, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" (Matthew 27:46), we can ask our questions and express our pain. The Lord already knows our hearts. He wants us to open them to Him and to each other.
Three: With hope as we trust the redemptive power of God. The psalmist proclaimed, "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way" (Psalm 46:1–2).
Whatever comes of this tragedy and others that may come in the future, our Father is still our Father. Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). He loves us as much today as when He died on the cross for us. Our Lord promises, "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you" (Isaiah 43:2). No matter how deep the river, His love is deeper still.
As he stood at the grave of Lazarus, "Jesus wept" (John 11:35). I am convinced that he weeps today over Orlando. Let us join Him now.

Wise and Harmless
Yesterday, I started to Google something, and SLAM BAM, the warning pictured above (less the ip number) came up with a LOUD buzz that wouldn’t stop. I tried every key to stop it and nothing worked. My computer was totally locked up and my first thought, "This is a scam!" I called Larry, my technical guru son, who told me it was a scam and to just reboot my computer, which I didn’t want to do because of unsaved work I had on it. Nevertheless, I did and when my computer came back up it was fine, and so was my inspiration for today's blog and FB post about being wise AND harmless in a day when we every reason to be wary of evil that seems abounding. Scammers and scams seem to be on the rise like never before.
While I was taking some r/e continuing ed classes last week, the instructor told us to put our phones on silent, to which we all did. But, right in the middle of the class, the instructor’s phone speaker loudly said, “This is the Internal Revenue Service and you are under criminal investigation for past due payments. You will be arrested if you do not call within 24 hours…….” She assured us she had no payments due to the IRS and she verified that her phone was on silent, yet the scammers were able to even get around that technology. The IRS says taxpayers across the nation have been faced with a deluge of these aggressive phone scams.
Not long ago, I had fraudulent charges hit my bank account. Fortunately, my bank caught it before I did and resolved it for me.
We’ve all heard the sad stories of how people lost their entire life’s savings to scammers. How could people be so cruel to do that to someone AND how can people have such lack of wisdom to fall for those scams?
Jesus cautioned His disciples, men who were just heading out to spread good news to the world, that they were doing dangerous work. He said, “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves”. Matthew 10:16. In this day and age, how can WE be wise and harmless at the same time?
How are serpents wise? To be wise means to be marked by understanding of people and situations, to have keen and unusual discernment, and a capacity for sound judgment in dealing with people and situations. To discern means to detect with the eyes and with senses other than vision. It also means to read character or motives. Snakes are pros at escaping. Their most common form of self-protection is avoidance. A snake’s first line of defense is to escape to safety among rocks or vegetation. Snakes have to be alert to dangers. Most snakes are not aggressive. Snakes do not want to attack humans. Snakes bite humans only in self-defense. They would rather not confront us. So it seems that we can be as wise as serpents by perceiving and avoiding danger and escaping from it!
How are doves harmless? To be harmless is to lack the capacity to injure or to be free from inflicting physical or mental damage. Doves are referred to as birds of peace. Their temperament is calm and their disposition is sweet. Doves really are harmless. Doves aren’t that bright as seen in how they build their nests quite poorly. I read that they will even lay their eggs on a windowsill. I can’t fault them for that. How many “delivering” human mamas end up giving birth in a car or some other less-than-comfy place?
Wise and Harmless – it seems like God was giving us the tools to make it when it seems the enemy is out to get us everywhere we turn. We need to heed Jesus’ instruction to His disciples: “Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.” Detect and avoid danger, while living in gentleness, kindness and innocence. Be wise and harmless—always. When taken together, these instructions just may be our best OFFENSE and DEFENSE against the snare of the fowler. "Surely He will save you from the snare of the fowler" Psalm 91:3.

Changing is Possible
I know it’s hard to believe, but in all honesty, I was a shy, timid introvert as I grew up. I avoided crowds, parties, and situations that would cause me to HAVE to interact with people. So, obviously, I was not chosen to be “Most Popular”. And, I know it’s even harder to believe that I am still, not by nature, outgoing. I literally have to force myself to walk up to people and create conversation. BUT, I realized, long ago, that if I remained in that mind-set, I would never have friends. “If you want friends, you must show yourself friendly.” I had to be willing to get out of my comfort zone and be willing to change. I had to become "tweak-able"!
One of my favorite authors, Max Lucado, puts it this way: “Here’s some good news. You aren’t stuck with today’s personality. You aren’t condemned to “grumpydom.” You are tweak-able! So what if you were born a bigot? You don’t have to die one. Where did we get the idea we can’t change? Where do statements come from such as, “It’s just my nature to worry,” or. . . “I’ll always be pessimistic. I’m just that way.” Or, “I have a bad temper. I can’t help the way I react.” Who says? Would we say, “It’s just my nature to have a broken leg. I can’t do anything about it.” Of course not. If our body malfunctions, we seek help. Shouldn’t we do the same with our hearts? Can’t we seek aid for our sour attitudes? Of course we can. Jesus can change our hearts! He wants us to have a heart like His!”
And, I add to Max’s words, if we desire to be that outgoing, optimistic, cheerful personality that others want to hang with, then, we must purpose to live outside our comfort zones. We need to be the gal or guy that we want to hang with. When we're that gal or guy – others will gravitate to our "sunny" and even "funny" dispositions. They'll want to hang with us because we exude He Who lives BIG in us AND His personality ROCKS with joy, peace, abundance, patience, beauty and a merry heart!

Don't Be Normal. Be Different. Take the High Road.
How “different” are we from what is “normal” to others? Some say that “It’s NORMAL to be stressed, fearful, overwhelmed, exhausted, angry, sad, speaking hateful about people, and on and on. “Normal” to some is ranting and raving right along with all those who are dissatisfied with politics and politicians.
My contention is that “normal” isn’t where God called us to be. He called us to live a radically ABNORMAL life where kindness, love, joy and peace RULES. Believing that way, makes us not just different, but we are also DIFFERENCE MAKERS. We take the High Road.
In Matthew 5, Jesus told us to be so different that in the face of being treated unfairly and wrong, He told us to be glad. What? THAT’S just not normal. In Matthew 5:11-15 He gave us a completely DIFFERENT way to handle those normally cranky and grumpy folks. “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”
To live the life God wants us to live means we will be DIFFERENT. It will be different from the way the world and the enemy of our soul wants us to live. And it will be different from the way many of the people we know want us to live. It will be DIFFERENT when we don’t side in with hateful, mean and angry people.
There are many differences to be found in devoted God-followers. These differences are seen in our relationship with God, in our place in the world, in our purpose in life, in our personal goals, in our commitments, in our motives, in our values, in our choices, and in our beliefs. One of the greatest differences is found in the attitudes of our hearts:
~ We are LOVINGLY different -- extending His love freely and unconditionally to others.
~ We are TRUTHFULLY different -- believing the truth and loving the truth, we speak the truth and live the truth.
~ We are MERCIFULLY different -- knowing that God’s mercies are new every morning, we extend His mercies to those who have failed and disappointed us.
~ We are PRAYERFULLY different -- we pray in faith, we pray because of who God is and what He can do, we pray because of what God has said in His Word. We pray because we have the assurance that God hears us and answers our prayers.
We are NOT normal. We are DIFFERENT, and DIFFERENT never felt and looked so good! I think I'll cruise on over to the High Road. How about you?

Barring a Miracle
Did you ever have someone say that to you about a medical condition, financial situation or personal relationship? Barring a miracle, you'll have only 6 months to live; barring a miracle, you'll have to declare bankruptcy; barring a miracle, a divorce is imminent.
I heard a minister say that when he and his wife were first married, the doctor told them, "Barring a miracle, you'll never be able to have children." He went on to introduce us to his two beautiful children, now teenagers, that his wife eventually gave birth to. And, I know many other couples who were told the same thing.....but they, too, received their MIRACLE.
I've seen sports games where the commentator said, "Barring a miracle, they're going to lose this game!" And moments or minutes later, in a swift turn-around, they won the game.
To my father-in-law, the doctors said, "Barring a miracle, you won't live beyond six months." He lived for another 15 years.
Knowing what I know and experiencing what I have experienced, I assure you, without a shadow of doubt....miracles really do still happen. That's why I'm optimistic enough to NEVER say "Never", and to NEVER say "It's impossible!" Those are words NOT in the vocabulary of those who truly take the limits off of God and what He says in His Word.
Jesus said, in Mark 9:23 "All things are possible to him who believes." Perhaps you needed this faith boost today. Maybe you've been given a "Barring a miracle......" report. MIRACLE is defined as a surprising and welcome event that is not explicable by natural or scientific laws and is therefore considered to be the work of a divine agency. And that DIVINE AGENCY Who doesn't even have the word "IMPOSSIBLE" in HIS dictionary, wants us to take it OUT of ours. There is nothing that He can't do. God always has miracles up His sovereign sleeves, so let's get our EXPECTORS up and EXPECT our miracle TODAY!

Doing the Right Thing
After 18 years as a Real Estate Broker, today, I will be completing my Real Estate Broker-in-Charge requirements for another 3-year term. My sweetheart had over 30 years under his belt when he went to heaven. After obtaining my initial R/E Associate License, he urged me to obtain my Broker's license to further assist him in our Sonlife Properties R/E Company. At the time, it seemed so unneeded (better said, UN-wanted -- it meant I had to use a lot of brain power to learn so much), but I am so grateful he was relentless in encouraging me to finish strong. Now I know why. The blessings, for both of us in our years of real estate, have been so many, and since he went to heaven, it has served me so well.
I always learn so much when I attend these continuing education courses which are also "refresher" courses. These few days have been no exception. So many rules, regulations, do's and don'ts, attention to details, ethics, standards, laws, codes, provisions! Ugh! Laws....all those things that restrain us, keep us from fun and living it up. OR, is it those things that FREE us and PROTECT us and give us a meaningful, blessed and prosperous life? In these classes, plenty of tragic stories are heard of how negligence or lack of integrity destroyed a family's life. But, at the same time, we heard stories that "saved the day" because of law-abiding, generous, kind and thoughtful actions that were taken.
Whether it be in real estate, or any profession, or being a good citizen who adheres to the laws of the land, we will be known by our actions. J.C. Watts said, "Character is doing the right thing when nobody's looking. There are too many people who think that the only thing that's right is to get by, and the only thing that's wrong is to get caught." And, the Apostle Paul said in Matthew 7:20 "You will know them by their fruits."
Our reputation of honesty and integrity is worth its weight in gold in all of our business relations, our human relations, and our relationship with God. There will be so many opportunities in our life to take a shortcut or do the wrong thing or even to justify bad behavior as a reaction to someone else’s bad behavior. Let's live our lives in such a way that when each day comes to a close we can look in the mirror and say, “Today I did the right thing.”

SHEER Fish-ness!
It's good to be back home, but our home away from home was AWESOME-ness with SHEER Fish-ness over the last several days. Hootsuite, an app to use to schedule Facebook posts, sure made me look like I was really trying to get a message across.... emphatically, as it reposted Sunday's post about 8 times (one for each photo I posted, which I had lumped together in one). Oh me!
God and I have a pact that I will do a daily post (Yes, I know, you don't give "teachings" on FB because it's for quick messaging, but I know folks may not take the time to go to my daily blog at www.livinginthepeacezone.blogger.com, so I post on both places, daily.) Because we were in a no-wifi zone in the deep woods, and on the banks of the Illinois River for the last several days, I had to pre-schedule my posts at a laundromat in Gore that had wifi. Hootsuite provided my Day 2 posts over and over again with each photo I added, individually. I apologize for that!
Since I'm home, I deleted them all but one, and now have the whole album of all the fun photos posted here -- from me walking into the cabin and seeing the photos Staci brought from home of my Sweetheart to these I'm posting here of years ago when he kicked off the love of the Great Outdoors in our family and now to this trip where we gave "Big Larry" a birthday surprise celebration, the kids floating down the Illinois River, making s'mores and playing in the fire (Kids, don't do this without adult supervision!), lots and lots of fishing, and lots and lots of cleaning those fish. Larry and Staci were fish-cleaning machines and I was the chief cook and cheerleader for everyone. I said, "I haven't caught a single fish and Lexi said, "Nana, it would help if you'd put a line in the water!" LOL! I just loved getting caught up in all their successes.
Technology may often disappoint, but God sure doesn't! I loved taking photos with "memories to treasure" in mind, and postings in mind to archive. This photo album is some sweet photos of yester-years with our big boys and Staci's two, and these last few days. You can see we're a "fishing family" both when it comes to fishing for fish AND fishing for men and women to know God, His amazing WORD and all that He has created for each of us. It just doesn't get better than that on this side of heaven, and oh what a time it will be once we cross over to the other side!
